This book keeps you on edge till the very end! Good as Gone is about a girl named Julie who is kidnapped from her home at the age of 13. The only witness is her 10 year old sister Jane. 8 years after the kidnapping, a woman appears at their home claiming to be Julie who escaped from her captors after being sold to human traffickers in Mexico. The family is thrilled but something seems off. One day, Anne, the mother, gets a phone call from a private detective. He meets with her and hands her an envelope with some news that could change the world they all live in. Is Julie really Julies? Will life ever be normal? Whose remains were found around the same time Julie disappeared? Will any of the other victims taken by her kidnapper escape? What happened to Charlotte? Will Vi/Gretchen escape her abusive situation? Amy Gentry has pieced together a story within a story within a story. It flows perfectly and has just enough to keep you guessing while switching voices so you get multiple perspectives.
I gave this book 4 stars because it does have a lot of rough language in it, pornographic details in some parts, and has a large amount of topics that could bother some people. It is also one of those books that while great, is hard to follow in some areas because it switches from numbered to named chapters and voices are constantly changing.
