Several school boys are wrecked on an island with no adults. They end up forming their own structure of doing things, but have monsters to fight both in real life and within themselves. As they struggle to survive, their lives are changed forever. Will they make it off the island alive or will human nature get the better of them?
I gave it 3.5/5 because it is a great way to challenge our way of thinking for sure, but not exactly a good read. It was hard to get through, there were lots of bullying and death references, and it really seems to encourage bullying with no consequences to the bullies. I think it is a great book for parents to discuss with their kids or teachers with their students. But honestly, it shows lots of neglect for the kids and bullying towards Piggy.
