Billie Jo is living in Oklahoma during the Dust Bowl. Her mother and the baby she was carrying have passed, her father refuses to pay any attention to his only daughter, and an injury sustained during an accident has left Billie Jo's passion of playing piano as nothing more than a pipe dream. Will Billie Jo ever play piano again? Will her father forgive her for the death of those he loves? Will the dust ever clear and the crops come back?
I gave this a 3.5/5 because while it was a great book, this was a very slow book with language that was kind of hard to read. It was a beautiful story with tragedy and hope and I would probably read it again with my daughter one day.
