Use precise language, don't bother others, do your assigned duties, and follow the rules including taking your daily injections. That's all you have to live in the communities. There are no choices to make, no feelings to feel, no colors to see, and everyone lives a happy life. Jonas was chosen to be the next Receiver of Memory. This means, for the first time in his life, he will be asked to feel pain beyond belief. The Giver is to train him and what they discover together will change the world as it is now.
This gets a 5/5 because this book literally transports you to another world. You feel as if you are really there and lose yourself! This is just book one in a series that will change the way you see your world and see those things which we take for granted.
