The Woman in Cabin 10 by Ruth Ware

Star Rating: 3.9/5

References to; Cancer, drugs, drinking, mental health, lots of heavy language, sex, assault, murder, death, nudity, and relationship issues.

Laura Blacklock, a journalist, has suffered a break in at her apartment. Luckily for her, she gets to replace a co-worker who is on maternity leave, and go on a luxury cruise! This means a break from the nightmares, her annoying boyfriend, and therapist after therapist trying to help her get over her anxiety and depression. But just as the fun gets started, she hears a scream from the cabin next door. She sees blood and a hand that fades into the ocean. Calling security should be the answer, but no one on board believes her. Will she find the woman with the dark hair? Is it too late to save her?

I gave this a 3.9/5 stars for the themes and excessive language, plus the break in that really didn't have very much to do with the story. I think the characters were believable for the most part and that the story was very strong in twists and suspects. You really won't see the end coming unless you plan for the least likely thing to ever happen. I would probably read this again just to look for more clues to the story. I don't like the fact that it switches character voices though in some parts. Like when Jude is on social media, people are talking about the death in forums, or the emails and text messages. They don't happen too often, but see to mess the story up a bit. The newspaper articles, however, do play into what you think happens to the main character which I think is fairly relevant.
